About the Role
As a Software Development Engineer II - Appian Developer on the Corporate Services and Digital Automation Engineering team, you’ll help transform how Premera delivers healthcare operations. You’ll build innovative workflow automation solutions that improve employee productivity, enhance customer experiences, and streamline complex business processes. This role is ideal for a team player with Appian experience, a learning mindset, and a passion for driving change in Premera’s digital workspace.
Responsibilities
- Work with product and business teams to build business process automation solutions on platforms like Appian and Microsoft Power Platforms.
- Adopt a system improvement mindset and provide technical advice to the team as needed.
- Produce documentation to support enhancement and production support activities.
- Participate in educational opportunities to build new skills and maintain a learning mindset.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems. (Required)
- One (1) year of software development experience, knowledge of the software development lifecycle, and skills in one or more programming languages. (Required)
- Exposure to cloud solutions. (Preferred)
- Experience in the healthcare industry or a highly regulated environment. (Preferred)
- Technical knowledge of tools used at Premera (e.g., Facets) or required for the role. (Preferred)
- Experience working in Appian.
- Previous experience in an Agile environment. (Preferred)
- Exposure to API and service-based technologies. (Preferred)
- Experience using and creating automated test tools. (Preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to use technology to solve business problems.
- Proficient application of systems coding and development tools, techniques, and practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment to solve business problems.
- Desire and ability to continually improve technical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective listening, and professional behavior.
- Ability to analyze a variety of situations effectively and make decisions based on policies and guidelines.

Pay
The salary for this role varies based on geographic location, market conditions, and skills/experience. The posted range is $92,400.00 - $157,100.00 (National Plus salary range, used in higher cost-of-labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska). Compensation will be discussed further during the interview process.
