About the role

Our team develops Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility), a fully-managed cloud database that enables customers to persist and retrieve JSON documents. We are developing new query capabilities, pushing the bounds of performance, driving distributed systems innovation in scalability and high availability, and investing in user experience.

What you will do

• Collaborate with colleagues on research, prototyping, software design, and implementation
• Work on technical problems spanning all aspects of database systems – multiversion concurrency control (MVCC), transactions, query optimization, data storage, indexing, parallel computation, wire protocol translation/compilation – as well as distributed systems, telemetry, build and deployment technology, and API and UI design
• Choose to focus on an area, work across areas, or rotate over time
• Interact with customers and work with product managers to define product improvements
• Solve hard problems, grow your skills, and mentor others along the way

Basic qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Pay

USA, WA, Seattle - 143,700.00 - 194,400.00 USD annually
