Software Development Engineer, Fleet Management
We are growing and seek a talented, enthusiastic, and motivated Software Development Engineer (SDE) to join our Fleet Management team in North Reading, MA. This role is part of the Amazon Robotics Autonomous Mobility team, which develops software powering Proteus, Amazon Robotics’ first fully-autonomous mobile warehouse robot.
About the role
As an engineer on the Fleet Management team, you are a key member of a diverse, collaborative team delivering highly scalable robotic systems. You will support and lead the design and development of services that allocate and assign tasks to a fleet of autonomous vehicles, and track the state of associated resources. Our team’s software enables the integration of autonomous vehicles in the Amazon fulfillment network.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement robotic applications and infrastructure.
- Influence the team's strategy and contribute to long-term vision and roadmap.
- Work with stakeholders across the organization to iterate on design and implementation.
- Maintain high standards by participating in reviews, designing for fault tolerance and operational excellence, and creating mechanisms for continuous improvement.
- Prototype and test concepts or features, both through simulation and emulators and with live robotic equipment.
- Work directly with customers and partners to test prototypes and incorporate feedback.
- Mentor other engineers on the team.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
- 1+ years of Object-Oriented Design experience.
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

The Autonomous Mobility Software group is a multi-disciplinary team of collaborative Applied Scientists and Software Engineers with expertise in fleet orchestration, highly scalable distributed systems, computer vision, SLAM, motion planning, and controls. Our mission is to deliver autonomous navigation software that utilizes state-of-the-art sensor technologies and algorithms to enable safe and efficient operation of autonomous mobile robots throughout the Amazon fulfillment and transportation network.

Pay
USA, MA, North Reading - $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
