Software Development Engineer, FinTech Ledger Technology

FinTech’s charter is to enable Finance & Global Business Services teams to support the growth, expansion, and restructuring of Amazon's businesses. We are in a unique position to look across FGBS to provide integrated solutions which satisfy the needs of multiple businesses. As Amazon continues to grow by expanding to new geographies, growing in existing geographies, adding new businesses, and acquiring new subsidiaries, it is vital that our financial technology solutions scale economically.
FinTech Ledger Technology team is responsible for making financially relevant events available for finance use cases by developing strong operational subledger software services. We process millions of transactions every day across multiple business lines for timely and accurate Tax and P&L reporting globally. We are looking for a driven, results-oriented innovative software development engineer, who can help us create the next generation of distributed, scalable ledger systems.

Responsibilities
- Solve interesting and complex problems at every layer of the stack, making a real difference for our CFOs and finance analysts alike.
- Create scrappy prototypes to test new ideas, integrate with upstream services, and build highly scalable and performant systems processing transactions corresponding to each shipment placed at Amazon.
- Take ownership over the software design, documentation, development, engineering approach, delivery, and support of Ledger systems.
- Balance technical leadership responsibilities with hands-on development work, guiding your team through technical challenges by providing architecture direction and unblocking junior engineers.
- Drive architectural decisions for new features, weighing trade-offs between performance, scalability, and implementation complexity.
- Implement critical functionality and review team members' contributions with detailed, educational feedback to elevate overall code quality.
- Collaborate with product managers to refine requirements and coordinate with partner teams on integration strategies for cross-functional initiatives.
- Contribute to strategic technical planning by evaluating emerging technologies, identifying optimization opportunities, and shaping the technical roadmap.
- Participate in hiring interviews to maintain Amazon's high engineering standards and build a strong, diverse team.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually (Bellevue, WA). Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
