About the role

AWS Network Product Development (NPD) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global network infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, collaborating with diverse teams of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will develop new platforms for AWS Networking, focusing on embedded routing platforms that enable one of the world's largest and most complex networks. You will help build, automate, and scale our network to improve performance, reliability, control, and visibility for Amazon's global network. This role offers the opportunity to innovate in ways others cannot, given AWS's ownership of both the network and the hosts.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Linux-based solutions on embedded devices for networking products.
  • Develop platforms that support AWS's global network infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high standards for safety, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Drive innovation in data center networking to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of embedded firmware development experience, or a Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Pay

Base salary ranges:

  • USA, CA, Cupertino: $165,200 - $223,600 USD annually.
  • USA, WA, Seattle: $143,700 - $194,400 USD annually.
