About the role

AWS Hardware is looking for a Software Development Engineer to drive the technology development responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the services and infrastructure within AWS Hardware Data Science and Analytics. You will build systems and services that support operations, quality, health, machine learning, and analytics for AWS cloud hardware globally.

AWS Hardware designs, qualifies, and maintains server solutions for AWS and its customers, developing new cloud-focused hardware solutions. The team owns sophisticated software, including firmware and back-end service infrastructure, and monitors environmental conditions with millions of sensors. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining systems that capture, persist, vend, and stream big data for analytics and machine learning applications.

This is a highly visible position that interacts at all levels of the business, offering a unique opportunity to shape the evolution of cloud computing. As a Software Developer at Amazon, you will take ownership of team architecture, make technical trade-offs, and simplify systems while working in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
  • Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment.
  • Leverage AWS solutions to solve complex problems.
  • Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.
  • Design and code solutions starting with broadly defined problems.
  • Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
  • 1+ years of Object-Oriented Design experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Pay

USA, WA, Seattle - $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually.
