Software Development Engineer, Conversational Ads Experience

About the role

Build the systems that deliver billions of personalized ad impressions daily — combining large-scale distributed services, LLMs, and innovative shopper experiences to help brands connect with customers during their most inspired shopping moments. You'll work on forward-thinking projects that impact both Amazon's architecture and business at massive scale.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate large-scale distributed services capable of processing millions of requests daily with low latency and high availability
• Leverage LLMs and Generative AI to solve complex problems and deliver personalized, contextually relevant ad experiences
• Partner with engineering, science, and business teams to design, implement, and launch new shopper-facing ad experiences
• Collaborate with senior SDEs and Principal Engineers on architecture and system design for high-impact, strategic projects
• Build and optimize ad serving infrastructure that scales to serve billions of impressions across Amazon pages worldwide
• Write high-quality, maintainable code and drive operational excellence through monitoring and continuous improvement

We are at the forefront of re-inventing advertising experiences, bridging human creativity with artificial intelligence to transform every aspect of the advertising lifecycle from ad creation and optimization to performance analysis and customer insights.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals, including transformer architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization techniques
