Software Development Engineer, Consumer Domains
About the role
This opportunity is for a Software Development Engineer for Audible’s Consumer Domains group. We are the team that creates and powers Audible’s applications, components and services for our global listeners across Audible and Amazon web. We are the home for tech talent that wants to grow Audible’s market leading business and build the sites and services (APIs) across desktop and mobile devices. The team is comprised of developers who work in an agile environment and partner closely with Audible and Amazon tech teams, Product, UX and QA teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain software components and applications for the world's largest audiobook creator and provider
- Identify and resolve software defects through code review, log analysis, metrics examination, debugging, and other troubleshooting methods
- Write maintainable and scalable code for software components as part of an agile engineering team
- Collaborate with stakeholders to envision, design, develop, test, and launch customer-centric software that inspires and impacts users
- Apply computer science, engineering, and analysis principles to solve moderate-scale problems
Requirements
- 1+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 1+ years of professional experience programming in a modern programming language e.g. Java, C++, C#, Python
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Problem solving skills and willingness to accept new challenges, take ownership and be adaptable
- Capable of using technology to solve straightforward problems
- Capable of taking a defined design, turn it into high quality code, and deliver it on schedule
- Proficient in a broad range of data structures and algorithms, knowing when it is (and isn’t) appropriate to use them
- Experience with Computer Science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and problem solving
Qualifications
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Experience with Agile methodologies
- Experience with version control systems like Git
- Experience with cloud-based development environments
Skills
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle
- Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
- Experience with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI)
- Experience with DevOps practices
