About the role

The AWS Networking organization is hiring talented Software Development Engineers (SDE) to join our team. Within Networking, we confront and solve complex and high-stake challenges. Our teams support the design of connectivity between the hundreds of AWS locations and thousands of services. As a member of the Backbone Engineering team, you will play a part in designing and architecting software that feeds Network Engineers with critical information about AWS Backbone network performance.

Responsibilities

  • Build software and deploy products that enable the backbone to be utilized as an efficient service by our customers.
  • Enable our customers to visualize the performance of AWS Backbone network that spans the entire plant, identify where in the real-world availability risks and congestion occur, and plan and act to protect the network.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.
  • Write high-quality distributed system software.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Pay

Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Base salary ranges are provided below:

  • USA, CO, Denver - $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually
  • USA, MN, Minneapolis - $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually
  • USA, WA, Seattle - $143,700.00 - $194,400.00 USD annually
