About the role
Amazon Redshift is the world's most popular fully managed petabyte-scale data analytic service in the cloud. Tens of thousands of customers use Redshift to crunch through exabytes of data to make business critical decisions every day. We are looking for innovative engineers to help shape the future of Redshift. Distributed data and transaction management is at the heart of Amazon Redshift data analytics services and is responsible for delivering ultra-fast, highly scalable and cost-effective performance.
We are building and operating large scale, distributed, fault-tolerant data and transaction management solutions using specialized data structures, distributed consensus algorithms, machine learning, massive parallel execution and many other advanced technologies. Redshift seamlessly scales across multiple AWS availability zones and regions across the globe. We are working across AWS in shaping requirements and solutions for next generation data analytics platforms and services.

We are a fun-loving team that is passionate about ideating, designing, delivering and operating data analytics services to delight customers with performance and scalability. We are distributed across many locations in US, Germany, Canada and are expanding in other geographies.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and deliver state-of-the-art distributed, high-performance data and transaction management processing algorithms and solutions
- Continuously invent and re-architect components and workflows creating new technologies to meet the future demands in data analytics
- Deploy and monitor new features in a highly available and fault tolerant system running in the cloud
- Collaborate with and mentor other engineers, providing technical guidance and helping to build a fast-growing team
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Pay
Base salary range: $165,200.00 - $223,600.00 USD annually (USA, CA, East Palo Alto). Final compensation determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Your package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
