Software Development Engineer, Amazon ECS
About the role
The Amazon ECS team builds and operates container solutions to help customers run containerized microservices on AWS. ECS is a fast-growing business, and we are expanding our team to build additional features for customers adopting serverless containers. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the ECS Control Plane development team, which works closely with teams across AWS. Several exciting projects are on the roadmap for 2026, with a focus on enabling more ML/AI workloads on ECS.
Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market
- Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry
- Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed
- Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage and use
- Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems
- Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Pay
USA, WA, Seattle - 143,700.00 - 194,400.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
