A typical workweek
Your week starts with a 9:00 AM standup, either remotely or in the office. On Mondays, the team often discusses weekend activities before diving into work. You check Slack, Monday, and your email for any urgent questions or support tickets, prioritizing tasks based on urgency. You then review your sprint board and begin working on assigned tasks.
On office days in Dirksland, you enjoy a fixed workspace and collaborate in person with your team. Standups are physical, and bi-weekly sprint planning sessions help prioritize backlogs and plan upcoming sprints. Every four weeks, a retrospective meeting reviews the previous sprints.
You might propose new components for the library and discuss their integration with the team and product owner. Lunch is a shared affair, often followed by a quick game of football with the office dog, Marley, or building with Lego. After lunch, you continue working on custom interactions for client portals, collaborating with backend and frontend colleagues to ensure seamless integration.
On remote days, you might have team meetings to estimate new project backlogs or calls with clients to resolve issues. You proactively monitor systems, such as checking API calls to a client’s ERP system, and communicate any issues to the product owner. Occasionally, you’ll wrap up early for personal commitments, like picking up your child from school.
At the end of the week, you might discuss plans for the quarterly team outing—perhaps an escape room or another activity. While the team values good relationships, they also prioritize work-life balance, so after-work drinks are rare. Instead, everyone heads home to enjoy time with family or friends.
