About the role

The Software Developer is responsible for the design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment of software applications supporting the JAMMEX program. This role works across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) to deliver secure, high-quality, and scalable code that meets the technical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design, write, and maintain clean, efficient, and secure code based on system requirements and user stories.
  • Perform unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of software applications to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, application programmers, and QA/test engineers to integrate software components.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings.
  • Develop and update technical documentation, including software design specifications, user guides, and release notes.
  • Remediate software vulnerabilities and ensure all code complies with DoD cybersecurity and IA (Information Assurance) guidelines.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree).
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in software development and sustainment.
  • Clearance: Secret preferred.
  • Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Relevant computing environment (CE) or developer certification from a nationally recognized technical authority (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer, AWS Certified Developer, or equivalent).
  • Experience transitioning legacy systems to modern cloud-based architectures.
  • Strong background in DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies and tools.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Schedule

This position is full-time and remote, with occasional travel to Maryland as needed.
