About the role

As a Software Developer Intern, you’ll work with cross-functional teams to support the design, development, testing, and enhancement of technology solutions. You’ll gain exposure to modern development practices and AI-enabled workflows while building strong foundations in programming, problem-solving, communication, and responsible use of emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of CGI’s industry focus, clients, organizational structure, and business objectives.
  • Build trusted relationships by asking thoughtful questions, actively listening, and clearly communicating ideas.
  • Collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to translate business and technical needs into organized, actionable inputs.
  • Assist in designing, developing, and testing software features using programming languages, frameworks, and tools appropriate to project needs.
  • Support troubleshooting, debugging, and issue resolution to help ensure solutions are reliable and meet business and technical requirements.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, including designs, code comments, test cases, and project deliverables.
  • Use modern and AI-enabled development tools to support coding, research, documentation, testing, debugging, and solution development.
  • Apply responsible AI practices with appropriate human oversight to ensure attention to privacy, accuracy, security, and quality when using AI-enabled tools.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, testing sessions, and project discussions to support solution development and delivery.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment as a third-year student in a bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Certain positions may require U.S. Citizenship and/or the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance based on client or government requirements.
  • Curiosity, professionalism, and a strong desire to learn about software development and technology-enabled problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort navigating ambiguity and complex information.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify and explain complex ideas.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Exposure to at least one programming or scripting language and familiarity with general technology concepts through coursework or personal learning (preferred but not required).
  • Interest in learning and responsibly using modern and AI-enabled development tools, frameworks, and emerging technologies.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $20.00 - $30.00 per hour.
