Summary

This role is focused on designing, developing, and maintaining business-critical desktop software used by engineers, architects, and construction professionals. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative Agile team alongside product owners, QA analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions using the Microsoft technology stack. In addition to core development work, this individual will contribute to legacy application modernization efforts, mentor junior team members, and help establish practical standards for AI-assisted development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain desktop software solutions aligned to business requirements and architectural standards, delivering scalable, high-performance, and secure applications.
  • Participate in full software development lifecycle (SDLC) activities including requirements clarification, solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot and LLM-based coding assistants) to improve code quality, test coverage, and delivery efficiency, while helping establish responsible usage standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve developer productivity, documentation quality, and code maintainability through automation and AI-assisted workflows.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers; conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with product owners, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions, and communicate technical concepts and tradeoffs clearly across audiences.
  • Support and enhance legacy applications while contributing to incremental modernization efforts that improve maintainability, security, performance, and developer experience.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant software development experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Proficiency in .NET development using C# and SQL Server, with experience supporting both desktop and web-based Windows applications.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps for source control and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience performing code reviews and enforcing coding standards and best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and defect resolution skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Self-starter with a growth mindset and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Experience developing software that creates, manipulates, analyzes, or visualizes 2D or 3D geometric models.
  • Strong mathematics background.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants in professional software development workflows.
  • Experience integrating AI-enabled capabilities (such as summarization, extraction, search, or conversational workflows) into applications using enterprise-approved services.
  • Familiarity with prompt design, output evaluation, and practical safeguards for secure and responsible use of generative AI in software delivery.
  • Experience improving engineering throughput using AI-assisted approaches to coding, testing, documentation, or debugging.
  • Academic background or coursework in structural or civil engineering.
  • Exposure to engineering analysis software, construction drawings, or layout design tools.
  • Exposure to 3D graphics engines such as DirectX, OpenGL, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with C/C++ development.
