Software Developer I

About the role

The Software Developer I position within KNAPP involves developing and implementing software solutions that meet logistical requirements. This role requires collaboration with the Commissioning group and the Software Solution Engineering group to ensure successful delivery of the solution.

Responsibilities

• Clarify development requirements with the Lead Software Developer
• Understand and implement warehouse logistics processes and solutions
• Create high-quality and functioning software solutions to meet specified requirements
• Implement suitable software designs and module test plans within the framework of specified technologies
• Ensure the quality of the software solution through integration and sufficient testing against the requirements
• Regularly document your own software solutions and performed tests
• Re-evaluate development efforts for own software solutions
• Provide technical information regarding your own software solutions
• Support and advise for software solution engineering, quality assurance, commissioning, project management, service center, and technical editors
• Share knowledge and experience with colleagues and have a willingness to mentor
• Provide remote, and at times, onsite support for testing during initial onsite commissioning
• Provide third-level hotline support for software solutions
• Notify project lead developer and direct supervisor when experiencing difficulties or delays
• Participate in process improvements in the software development department
• Provide feedback to superiors when there is a need for improvement in the process
• Provide feedback to superiors when training is required
• Be willing to travel (approx. 4 weeks per year - not contiguous)
• Evaluate developments made during and after integration and incorporate knowledge in subsequent projects

Requirements

• Equivalent to 0-3 years in professional software development
• Strong knowledge and understanding of KNAPP products and their underlying architecture
• Knowledge of 1 or more programming languages (C/C++, Java, C#, SQL, PL/SQL, script languages)
• Current software technologies, development methods, and paradigms
• Ability to process and pass-on complex technical information both in writing and orally
• Fluency in English, with German proficiency preferred but not required

Qualifications

• Authorization to work in the U.S.
• Passport or ability to obtain one
• Professional office etiquette at all times

Working Conditions and Environment

• Overtime (occasional)
• Travel is required, up to 10%
• Ability to travel by air domestically (US) and internationally (primarily Austria, other parts of Europe, and Canada)
