Software Developer

About the role

TEKsystems seeks a Senior Software Engineer to support Department of Defense, federal, and commercial clients by designing, developing, deploying, and demonstrating feature-rich software applications. This role participates in the full software development lifecycle and contributes to research initiatives through proof-of-concepts and prototype development. The ideal candidate actively develops in modern programming languages, collaborates effectively with engineering teams and clients, stays current with emerging technologies, is a U.S. Citizen, and can complete a U.S. government background investigation. This is a contract position, fully onsite in Niceville, FL.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and demonstrate feature-rich software applications.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle.
• Contribute to research initiatives through proof-of-concepts and prototype development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of professional software development experience.
• Active experience programming in one or more of: C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript.
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Ability to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience developing backend applications.
• API implementation experience.
• Relational and/or NoSQL database experience.
• Mission planning application development experience.
• DoD environment experience.
• Experience with AI‑assisted software development workflows.
• Relevant technical certifications (e.g., Scrum, Microsoft, Google).

Skills

• C#, C++, Software development, Java, .NET, Python.
• Web frameworks: React, FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy, or similar.
