About the role
We are looking for an experienced Software Developer to join a collaborative technology team within the printing and publishing industry. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building modern applications, partnering with cross-functional colleagues, and contributing practical guidance to other developers while remaining deeply involved in coding. The role supports a mix of new feature delivery, application support, cloud-focused improvement efforts, and long-term platform evolution in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and enhance software applications using .NET, C#, ASP.NET, Node.js, React, Python, and related development tools.
- Partner with Scrum leaders, technical peers, and business stakeholders to align day-to-day development work with broader product direction and operational needs.
- Contribute actively to Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning sessions, and team discussions that drive delivery priorities.
- Investigate application issues raised through support channels, determine root causes, and implement durable fixes for both isolated and recurring problems.
- Balance work across new development, feature refinement, and production support while adapting to changing business demands.
- Support cloud-based engineering efforts by building and maintaining solutions that leverage Microsoft Azure services for compute, storage, provisioning, and administration.
- Help advance modernization initiatives, including application architecture improvements and the transition of selected components from Blazor to Node.js and React.
- Participate in technical planning conversations focused on scalability, maintainability, and sustainable long-term design decisions.
- Share knowledge with team members through mentoring, code collaboration, and hands-on technical leadership.
- Assist with evaluating and applying AI-related capabilities that can strengthen development practices or business solutions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience, including strong depth with .NET, .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET, and modern .NET frameworks.
- 3-5 years of experience working with Node.js and React, with greater strength in backend engineering and working knowledge of front-end development.
- 3-5 years of Python development experience, including scripting and application support work.
- Experience building, deploying, or supporting applications in a cloud environment, with Microsoft Azure strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle practices and experience working within Agile or Scrum-based delivery models.
- Ability to operate effectively in an environment that blends Agile and Waterfall ways of working.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence others through hands-on technical leadership.
- Experience mentoring developers and managing shifting priorities across support, enhancements, and new development work.
Benefits
- Medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
- Eligibility to enroll in our company 401(k) plan.
