About the role
Under general supervision and with regular review, this position researches, designs, develops and/or modifies enterprise-wide end-user, system-level, and data management software applications. The role involves planning application development and deployment, ensuring software compliance, evaluating integration with the overall computing environment, and handling documentation, testing, maintenance, and updates. The selected candidate will communicate with domain experts, users, and management throughout the software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Determine user requirements and specifications and plan for software development within the broader organizational scope, including end-user, system-level, and data management applications.
- Formulate detailed plans for software implementation, including language, platform, and resource requirements.
- Implement design through coding, testing, and documentation.
- Deploy applications across the enterprise, ensuring cross-platform compliance and resource availability.
- Maintain code through debugging and updates to adapt to the evolving environment.
- Assist in planning future applications based on new developments in computer technology.
- Communicate with software developers, users, management, and the wider community.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Perform other duties as assigned and observe all laws, regulations, and obligations relevant to the company.
- Work safely in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Requirements
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related discipline. Equivalent experience may substitute for education.
- Understanding of embedded systems concepts, including bare-metal and real-time operating system architectures, preemption, multitasking, compilers, computer processor architectures, and memory management.
- Proficiency with C/C++ programming language is required; proficiency with Python is highly desired.
- Basic understanding of software development concepts, principles, and theory, with the ability to apply programming and analysis concepts.
- Ability to understand new concepts quickly, apply them accurately, and organize work to meet established timetables.
- Good communication, computer, and interpersonal skills to interface effectively with professionals, produce documentation, and present results internally.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Pay
Hourly salary range: $71,950 – $109,885.
Schedule
Full-time.
