Software Developer

About the role

Bluebird Fiber is a premier fiber telecommunications provider serving the Midwest. We are seeking a Software Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT, Linux Systems, Python, and object-oriented programming, with experience in Salesforce and web services.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate project requirements and translate them into well-designed solutions leveraging the platform
• Lead the technical delivery of Salesforce.com implementations, including custom solutions and integrations
• Manage technical scope and client expectations, provide hands-on technical assistance, and design/test plans
• Develop server-side Python code using an MVC framework
• Design and implement data models for business data persistence using PostgreSQL
• Administer and support Linux servers and systems
• Conduct software specification, gap analysis, and requirements analysis
• Develop and refine proofs-of-concept to confirm requirements
• Log, track, and manage issues, bugs, and enhancements
• Participate in software release and post-release activities, including user training and support
• Adhere to coding standards and ensure high code quality
• Conduct code reviews for ongoing projects
• Write and/or review deliverables, end-user guides, and support documentation
• Self-train on new technologies as needed

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in IT environments
• 3+ years of experience with Linux Systems
• 2+ years of experience with Python, JSON, and shell script
• 2+ years of object-oriented programming experience (Java or C#)
• Experience with Postgresql databases and administration
• Experience with Salesforce programming (Apex classes, triggers, unit tests, SOQL, Visual Force, Force.com, Force.com Ajax Toolkit)
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript (ES5), and familiarity with JavaScript frameworks (AngularJS, React, etc.)
• Experience with web applications and HTTP web services (SOAP or REST)
• Experience with the entire software development lifecycle (Agile, SDLC, Iterative)
• Strong balance of business and technical skills, ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical decision-makers
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility and attitude to achieve tight deadlines
• Rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with Telecommunications is a plus
