About the role

Aquila Technology is seeking a Software Developer to support one of the country’s premier defense research organizations. The role involves developing and optimizing link layer software in a Linux environment to support high-performance RF communication systems for critical applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain link layer software for real-time systems.
  • Implement and optimize algorithms for data transmission and communication protocols.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software components into larger systems.
  • Debug and resolve issues in real-time software applications.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code adhering to best practices.
  • Conduct performance analysis and tuning to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in real-time programming using C or C++.
  • Strong understanding of link layer protocols and communication systems.
  • Experience in Linux environments, including shell scripting and system tools.
  • Solid debugging and troubleshooting skills for real-time applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • 4 years – Software/Algorithm Development
  • 4 years – Background with Link Layer/Mac protocols
  • 4 years – C/C++ Programming
  • 4 years – Development experience on a Linux platform
  • 4 years – Object Oriented Software Design and Development
  • 4 years – Software Design/Development
  • 2 years – Communication Systems
  • 4 years – Embedded, real-time system deployment, test, and debug
  • 4 years – Hardware and Software Integration

  • Cell Phone & Internet Reimbursed up to $150 monthly to cover cell phone, data, and home internet expenses.
  • Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) – Team members are eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,500 every three (3) years for the purchase of electronic equipment used to access corporate services.

Pay

Salary range: $80,000 - $120,000 DOE

Schedule/Location

Candidate should expect to be onsite 2 days/wk with the remaining days remote. Must be within 100 miles from Lexington, MA

Interview Process

  • Initial prescreen via phone/zoom
  • Second round will be an onsite interview for local candidates; the team will consider zoom for relocation candidates.
