About the role
The Texas Department of Agriculture seeks a Software Developer 2 to enhance user experience, automate APIs and web services, and develop web-based and Windows-based applications. The ideal candidate should have 7+ years of experience with C# .NET framework, MVC, and SQL server, and 5+ years of experience with Azure DevOps and AWS DevOps.
Responsibilities
- Perform highly advanced (senior-level) computer programming work, including research, design, and implementation of web-based applications.
- Write, test, evaluate, debug, and document complex programs, including client/server and web-based applications using C# (.Net), MVC, and/or SQL.
- Provide support of Texas Department of Agriculture applications software through diagnosis of problems and implementation of changes to resolve problems and maintain software at the most current level.
- Work closely and coordinate with other developers, business analysts, project leadership, and business areas to validate requirements and understand technical issues and limitations and model solutions that meet the functional and technical requirements.
- Recommend improvements and identify risks to processes for application development projects, as needed.

Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Staff Baseline Requirements.
Skills
- 7+ years of experience with highly complex (senior-level) software development and web programming to enhance user experience.
- 7+ years of experience with functional and performance automation of APIs, web services, and web application using C# .net framework, MVC, and SQL server.
- 5+ years of experience with design and development of web-based and windows-based applications using various .NET HTML, HTML, HTML5, ASP.NET(Blazor)/C#, JavaScript, SQL, and CSS.
- 5+ years of experience using Azure DevOps and AWS DevOps.
- 1 year of experience working in Agile-based development environment.
- 1 year of experience working with the Texas Automated Nutrition System (TANS).
- Preferred experience working with Washington D.C.’s Office of the Special Superintendent of Education (OSSE)’s Orchard application.
