About the role

UNCOMN is seeking a motivated and collaborative Software Developer 2 (Associate) to join our growing development team. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining modern applications using Java, Microsoft Azure, and Agile development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications using Java and Microsoft Azure technologies.
  • Build, enhance, and support RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Collaborate with product owners, QA teams, and engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established best practices.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance.
  • Create and manage detailed Jira tickets while supporting a shared Agile workflow.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to peer code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in software development, workflow analysis, stakeholder collaboration, and Agile environments.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance, granted by the U.S. Government, which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Experience developing backend services and working with RESTful APIs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset focused on delivering effective solutions.
  • Willingness to obtain relevant certifications based on future client or contract requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or CompTIA Security+ preferred.
  • Desire to learn and work with emerging technologies.
