Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement automated test suites to validate the functionality, interoperability, and reliability of WiFi network components and configurations.
- Develop test cases that cover a wide range of scenarios, including client roaming, mesh network formation, load balancing, and failover.
- Leverage industry-standard testing tools and frameworks to measure and analyze key performance metrics such as throughput, latency, and coverage.
- Collaborate with the engineering teams to understand the product architecture, identify potential points of failure, and incorporate feedback into the testing strategy.
- Contribute to eero's automation frameworks and infrastructure to help developer and QA teams implement test cases/suites.
- Analyze test results, report on system performance, and work closely with the development team to address any issues or regressions.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in wireless networking testing, and continuously improve the testing infrastructure and processes.
- Mentor and guide junior team members in test automation and quality assurance practices for wireless technologies.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience with web services and REST APIs
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in software testing, with a strong focus on test automation for wireless networking products
- Proficiency in Python programming language
- 4+ years of experience on various OS (Linux/Mac/Windows)
- 2+ years of experience with RF/WiFi equipment and tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with popular test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Robot Framework, pytest, Selenium) applicable to wireless networking
- Familiarity with network performance testing tools and metrics (e.g., Iperf, iPerf3, Ookla Speedtest, etc)
- Experience in maintaining & scaling up WiFi test labs
- In-depth understanding of networking protocols such 802.11(ac/ax/be), Ethernet, (DHCP, DNS, ARP, ICMP)
- Hands-on experience in setting up and configuring WiFi mesh networks is a significant advantage
- Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for test environment management
