About the role

The Software Architect is responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance software solutions that support AAON’s business operations and digital transformation goals.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain software architecture standards, frameworks, and design patterns.
  • Lead the design of scalable, maintainable, and secure software systems across web, desktop, and cloud platforms.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and platforms to support development and integration.
  • Ensure software solutions align with cybersecurity, data governance, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software development teams.
  • Review code and design documents to ensure adherence to architectural standards.
  • Support DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing strategies.
  • Participate in strategic planning and roadmap development for enterprise systems.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • PREFERRED: Master’s degree in a related field and/or certifications such as TOGAF, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a software architecture or technical leadership role.
    • Strong understanding of software design principles, microservices architecture, and system integration.
    • Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., C#, Java, Python, JavaScript) and frameworks (.NET, Angular, React).
    • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and API design.
    • Familiarity with ERP, MES, or manufacturing systems is highly desirable.
    • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
    • Able to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

This role requires strategic thinking, technical depth, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. The Software Architect must be able to work independently, lead teams, and adapt to evolving business and technology needs.
