Software Architect – AI & Full Stack Development
About the role
Synopsys software engineers are key enablers in the world of Electronic Design Automation (EDA), developing and maintaining software used in chip design, verification and manufacturing. They work on assignments like designing, developing, and troubleshooting software, leveraging the state-of-the-art technologies like AI/ML, GenAI and Cloud. Their critical contributions enable world-wide EDA designers to extend the frontiers of semiconductors and chip development.
Job Description
We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
- You have spent years building platforms that sit at the intersection of physics, simulation, and AI, and you understand that the hard part is not making something work once, it is making it work reliably across teams, geographies, and use cases you did not anticipate.
- You think in systems. When someone describes a product requirement, you are already mapping dependencies, identifying bottlenecks, and sketching out what the architecture needs to look like six months from now when the load doubles and the data gets messier.
- You have built distributed systems that actually scale. Not in a slide deck, in production. You know the difference between a clever solution and a maintainable one, and you have learned when to choose each.
- You do not need to be the person writing every line of code, but you can. You review pull requests with an eye for what will break under load. You mentor engineers not by telling them what to do, but by asking the questions that help them see the tradeoffs.
What You'll Be Doing
- Define and drive the overall software architecture for a next-generation Physical AI platform that integrates 3D data, simulation environments, and AI-driven workflows
- Design scalable, modular systems that support both on-premise and cloud deployments, balancing performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Evaluate and integrate technologies including OpenUSD, NVIDIA Omniverse Libraries, Modulus, PhysicsNeMo, and NIMs into a cohesive platform architecture
- Translate requirements from product management, research teams, and cross-functional stakeholders into concrete technical designs and implementation roadmaps
- Lead architecture reviews, set coding standards, and establish patterns that ensure high code quality, performance, and scalability across engineering teams
- Arcitect deployment strategies across AWS, Azure, or GCP, leveraging containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Mentor engineers across the organization, providing technical leadership through design reviews, pair programming, and strategic guidance on complex problems
The Impact You Will Have
- Shape the architectural foundation of a platform that enables advanced simulation, digital twins, and AI-driven workflows used across Synopsys product lines
- Enable engineering teams to build faster and more reliably by establishing clear patterns, reusable components, and scalable infrastructure
- Accelerate time-to-market for Physical AI solutions by making smart integration decisions that reduce friction between research prototypes and production systems
- Improve system performance and scalability, ensuring the platform can handle increasing data volumes, user loads, and computational complexity
- Influence how Synopsys leverages emerging technologies like OpenUSD and NVIDIA Omniverse, positioning the company at the forefront of physical AI innovation
- Reduce technical debt and long-term maintenance costs by designing systems that are modular, testable, and adaptable to future requirements
- Elevate engineering practices across teams through mentorship, code reviews, and the establishment of architectural standards that raise the bar company-wide
What You'll Need
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
- 12+ years of software development and system architecture experience, with a track record of designing and shipping distributed, scalable systems
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python, with the ability to write performance-critical code and review complex codebases
- Solid experience with frontend development using React, Angular, or Vue.js, and a good understanding of web technologies including HTML, CSS, and REST APIs
- Proven experience architecting systems for cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and familiarity with on-premise infrastructure considerations
- Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of OpenUSD, experience with NVIDIA Omniverse or similar simulation platforms, background in 3D data processing, digital twin technologies, or exposure to AI/ML pipelines is a strong plus
Who You Are
- You can walk into a room with product managers, researchers, and engineers, listen to competing priorities, and walk out with a technical plan that satisfies the real need without overbuilding
- You write design documents that engineers actually want to read because they are clear, opinionated, and grounded in tradeoffs, not theory
- You know when to push back on a requirement because the architecture cannot support it without major rework, and you can explain why in terms that non-engineers understand
- You operate effectively in a global, matrixed organization, coordinating across time zones and teams without losing momentum or clarity
- You take ownership of outcomes, not just deliverables, if something breaks downstream because of an architectural decision, you are the first to dig in and fix it
- You stay current with emerging technologies not because it is trendy, but because you are always evaluating what might solve a real problem better than what you have today
