Social Worker Principal/UKHC

About the Role

The NICU is hiring a Principal Social Worker to develop a closer partnership with Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology in caring for infants and their families in the NICU. The Principal Social Worker will assist NICU staff in their interactions with families of infants, as well as directly work with parents as they manage the stress and uncertainty of their infant’s medical status and care.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to families.
• Offer resource information and facilitate legal reporting.
• Arrange case conferences and facilitate bio-ethical consultations.

Requirements

• Master of Social Work (MSW).
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
• 3 years of related experience.
• Hospital-based social work experience preferred.
• Direct patient care experience.
• Strong understanding of NASW guidelines related to patient relationships and care.

Skills & Knowledge

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Outstanding computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Above-average customer service and active listening skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience providing social services in a medical setting.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in an acute medical setting.

Physical Requirements

• Requires lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 lbs.
• Sitting and standing for long periods of time.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM; may include some evening and/or weekend work per departmental need.

Pay

$67,516–111,634/year
