Purpose Statement: The School Social Worker/Mental Health Specialist provides direct and indirect mental health support and social work services to students experiencing social, emotional, and/or behavioral problems that interfere with their performance in school. Facilitates communication among school, home, and community providers.
Responsibilities
- Provide behavioral and emotional counseling to groups and individuals
- Deliver individual short-term therapy, student counseling, and crisis intervention services
- Perform student case management and family support services as needed
- Support school site Coordinated Care Teams by identifying and providing mental health interventions
- Train staff on behavioral and mental wellness
- Support families with complex needs
- Navigate student mental health referrals in the community
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling
- Copy of transcript
- Possess a current, valid license as one of the following:
- Clinical Psychologist
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- Licensed Marriage Family Child
- AMFT, APCC, LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC
- TB Test (required upon job offer)
- Fingerprints/Livescan (required upon job offer)
- Proof of HS Graduation (or proof of college degree)

- Up to 3 letters of recommendation
- Answers to supplemental questions
Qualifications
- Experience in a school setting is preferred
- Experience with Psychological Service Programs/Methods
- Experience collaborating with Community-based Organizations (CBOs) and other local agencies preferred
- Bilingual preferred
Schedule
- 2026 - 2027 School Year
- 8 hours per day / 5 days per week
Location: Student Services
Reports to: Executive Director of Student Services; supervised by the Coordinator of Wellness.
