Social Worker (Mental Health Consultant)
Responsibilities
Provide expertise in Behavioral Health, Psychosocial and Crisis Intervention for Individuals seeking treatment and care in an emergency room setting.
Develop individualized treatment plans for each case based on psychiatric, cognitive, psychosocial, environmental, and medical needs.
Utilize social work systems, theories, and principles that impact patient care.
Work with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses to include a history of trauma, physical abuse, neglect, exploitation, co-occurring conditions, and suicide.
Select, administer, and interpret instruments for the purpose of assisting in the diagnosis and assessment of treatment plans with behavioral/psychiatric disorders.
Collect bio-psycho-social information about patients using interviewing, case history, observation, and various assessment methods.
This position has a requirement to lift up to 35 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
Performs Other Duties As Assigned.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
- Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations of mental health patients, providing individual or group clinical counseling, and developing behavioral health treatment plans or recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Requirements
- Individual Occupational Requirement for Social Worker: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (NOTE: You must attach copy of your transcripts)
- License: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your license)
