Responsibilities
- Provides individual, group counseling, and family counseling.
- Captures mental health education to all students.
- Implements student treatment plans and monitors their progress.
- Maintains aftercare compliance for students on medication.
- Connects families with community resources and services.
- Affords assistance to parents/guardians in communicating with school personnel.
- Refers students to appropriate mental health and/or substance abuse services and to other community service delivery systems as appropriate.
- Produces prompt, appropriate, legible documentation for the participant record and communication with team members and referral sources.
- Regularly attends treatment team meetings as assigned.
- Participates actively as part of monthly Linkage Team meetings.
- Serves as a resource and consultant on mental health and child psychology and conducts in-service programs as requested.
- Travels and works flexible hours as required by the program.
Requirements
- Experience working with youth and families.
- Knowledge of "best practices" in the field of social work/counseling, as well as the target high-need population, area, and cultures to be served.
- Effective communication and organization skills.
- Experience in program planning.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work in a collaborative setting involving teachers, students, administrators, parents, and community stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Ability to effectively implement a student education program addressing mental health issues in schools.
- Ability to assess an individual's current and potential strengths, resources, and basic needs through formal and informal evaluation.
- Ability to effectively develop service plans for youth.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work.
- Tennessee state licensure as a School Social Worker.

Pay
Hard-to-Fill Bonus: A signing bonus will be provided to credentialed SBMH professionals as determined by the critical shortage of school-based mental health professionals in TN and nationwide.
Required Commitment: Credentialed SBMH professionals must commit to work in our district for at least five years to be eligible for the bonus and must repay a portion of the bonus if they leave before the 5-year period ends.
