Social Worker III - Honolulu, Oahu

Hawai`i State Judiciary · Honolulu, HI · 1 mo ago
Full-time
We need to output HTML fragment with sections: About the role? The posting includes description: "Working as a Social Worker with the Judiciary provides you with opportunities..." That's about the role. Then "Summary Of Duties" list. Then "Minimum Qualification Requirements" includes education, specialized experience, substitution allowed, non-qualifying experience, selective certification requirements (driver's license, firearms, PREA, probation officer). Also "Supplemental Information" about attachments, transcript, important note, etc. We should remove boilerplate like cookie/navigation/legal/EEO etc. There's no explicit EEO but there is "Supplemental Information" includes application instructions (attachments, email, address). We must remove application instructions. Also remove "CLICK HERE for other important information..." etc. Also remove "IMPORTANT NOT E:" etc. Also remove "Education: If you are using education as a substitution for experience..." etc. That's application instruction. Also remove "Supplemental Information" heading if only contains boilerplate. We need to keep substantive info: description, duties, qualifications (education, experience, substitution, non-qualifying, selective cert requirements). Also maybe "Probation Officer Position" description is substantive. Keep that. We must not repeat job title as heading. Use

for section headings: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. We need to map content to appropriate headings. The posting has: About the role (first paragraph). Responsibilities (Summary Of Duties). Requirements (Minimum Qualification Requirements). Qualifications maybe overlapping; but we can put Requirements for education/experience, Qualifications for selective cert? Or we can combine. The instruction: Use headings only when posting has real specific content. We'll create sections: About the role (

About the role

), Responsibilities (

Responsibilities

), Requirements (

Requirements

) covering education, experience, substitution, non-qualifying, selective cert. Possibly Skills (

Skills

) if any explicit skills listed? Not really. Benefits, Pay, Schedule not present, so omit. We need to use
  • for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. So duties list: supervision of juvenile law violators, etc. We'll make
. For requirements list: education bullet? Could be
for education, specialized experience, substitution allowed, non-qualifying experience, selective certification requirements. We'll treat each as
      • . We must preserve ALL substantive information; do not invent or summarize away detail. So we need to keep all details verbatim? We can keep the text but format as HTML. Must not omit any substantive detail. Must not add filler. Must not repeat job title. Must not include metadata like recruitment numbers? Those are minor metadata; we can fold into short

or drop. The instruction: do NOT put Job ID / requisition numbers as headings — fold minor metadata into a short

or drop it. So we can include a short paragraph at top with the recruitment numbers and positions? That's metadata but maybe we can drop. Safer to drop them entirely? The instruction says fold minor metadata into a short

or drop it. Could include a

with the list of positions. But that's not heading. Might be okay. However they said "do NOT repeat the job title as a heading (the page already shows it)". The job titles are Social Worker III etc. They appear in the list. We could include them in a paragraph. But they are not headings. I'd include a short paragraph: "

        Positions: Social Worker III (SR-20), Social Worker I (SR-16), Social Worker II (SR-18), Social Worker IV (SR-22) – Recruitment numbers 25-140TY, 25-138TY, 25-139TY, 25-141TY.

" That's minor metadata. Now we need to ensure we don't include boilerplate like "Supplemental Information" etc. We'll omit that. Now produce HTML fragment. Let's craft:

        About the role

Working as a Social Worker with the Judiciary provides you with opportunities to contribute to public welfare and safety. The Judiciary employs social workers in various programs throughout the courts. Duties are program-specific and can be diverse, as are the clients, creating an opportunity to develop and practice a broad range of skills. Our social work professionals are committed to enhancing the profession by utilizing evidence-based practices informed by current research to promote client behavioral changes and improve outcomes. The Judiciary may be an excellent choice for those who embrace collaborative casework and seek opportunities to be part of the solution to complex social issues.

        Responsibilities

        • supervision of juvenile law violators, adult law violators, defendants conditionally released from the Hawai`i State Hospital, or juvenile status offenders
        • conducting child custody/visitation evaluations
        • assisting protection order petitioners
        • assisting in child welfare services cases referred to the Family Court
        • juveniles temporarily detained
        • engagement of family and community in juvenile cases
        • addressing issues such as substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, child abuse and neglect, trauma, disputed child custody/visitation, victim restitution, and others
But also the Social Worker III specific duties: "provides direct casework and related services for the full range of cases coming within the scope of a department's social work program; makes independent analysis of client's situation; makes reasoned conclusion as to preferred course of action and provides necessary services and treatment; prepares case records and reports; and performs other duties as required." Should we include that? It's part of duties. Could add as separate li. Add those. Now Requirements section: include education, specialized experience, substitution allowed, non-qualifying experience, selective certification requirements (driver's license, firearms, PREA, probation officer). Also maybe "Probation Officer Position" description is substantive; could be included under Responsibilities or Requirements? It's more about role. Could add a paragraph under Requirements? Might be better to add a separate

        Qualifications

for selective cert? But we have limited headings. We could use Requirements for education/experience, and Qualifications for selective cert and probation officer description. Let's do:

        Requirements

        • Education: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree which included a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in courses such as social work, social welfare, criminal justice, human services, counseling, psychology, sociology, or other related social sciences.
        • Excess work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the degree, provided it is of comparable scope, level and quality.
        • Specialized Experience: One and one-half (1-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional social work experience which involved utilizing a variety of social work skills and exercising professional judgement in the process of assisting individuals and their families with identifying their problems, evaluating the situation realistically, and considering resources and alternative courses of action pertinent to their needs and circumstances. The work typically involves conducting assessments; developing and implementing a plan of treatment programs and services; working cooperatively with other professionals, community agencies or institutions, in an interdisciplinary team; and evaluating the client’s progress and adjusting plans as appropriate.
        • Substitution Allowed: A bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Criminal Justice Administration from an accredited four (4) year college or university qualifies for Social Worker II or six (6) months of experience. A master’s degree in Social Work or Criminal Justice Administration from an accredited college or university qualifies for Social Worker III or one and one-half (1-1/2) years of experience. A Ph.D. degree in Social Work or Criminal Justice Administration from an accredited college or university qualifies for Social Worker IV or two and one-half (2-1/2) years of experience.
        • Non-Qualifying Experience: Experience which did not provide the necessary professional social work concepts and theories and the background and knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques of professional social work will not be considered as qualifying experience. Examples include: experience providing supportive services to professional social workers, vocational rehabilitation specialists, housing managers, or other professional workers in such programs as public welfare, family court, etc.; experience determining the eligibility of applicants/recipients for benefits under a public welfare program such as medical assistance, food stamps and other benefits; experience providing vocational, educational, psychological, or pastoral counseling; experience providing occupational or physical therapeutic services; Peace Corps or VISTA work experience which did not require the application of professional knowledge of the principles and practices of social work and/or was not performed under competent professional supervision; experience relocating clients who are displaced as a result of urban renewal or other similar reasons; trainee level type social work experience will not be considered qualifying unless work is performed under competent professional social work supervision.
Then Qualifications section for selective certification and probation officer:

        Qualifications

        • Selective Certification Requirements:
          • Driver's License: For certain positions, applicants must possess a current and valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle.
          • Qualification for Firearms (Lautenberg): For certain positions, applicants must be qualified to possess firearms or ammunition in accordance with state and federal laws, e.g., no misdemeanor or felony domestic violence conviction.
          • Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement (28 CFR 115.17, 115.117, 115.217 and 115.317): For certain positions, applicants may have contact with detainees in juvenile facilities and lockups, with inmates detained in a prison or jail, or with residents of community confinement facilities. In accordance with the Federal PREA Law, the Hawai`i State Judiciary shall not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with detainees in juvenile facilities and lockups, with inmates detained in a prison or jail, or with residents of community confinement facilities who: has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution; has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described above; or has been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment, or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.
          • Probation Officer Position: Most positions serve as probation officers. Probation Officers manage a case load of clients who have been adjudicated for law violation(s) or status offense(s) and are placed under the jurisdiction of the court for the purposes of supervision under probation or protective supervision, provision of services, or monitoring for compliance with the court's orders. Probation officers engage in collaborative casework with clients who may have serious mental health issues; family conflict; extensive and/or serious law violation histories; severe behavioral problems; disruptive parent/child relationships; drug and/or alcohol abuse, etc.
We need to ensure we didn't include any boilerplate like "Supplemental Information". Good. Now also include the minor metadata paragraph at top. Let's craft final HTML. Check for any repeated content: we included duties list plus Social Worker III specific duties. Ensure we didn't miss any duty from the posting: The posting also listed "Supervision of juvenile law violators, adult law violators, defendants conditionally released from the Hawai`i State Hospital, or juvenile status offenders; conducting child custody/visitation evaluations; assisting protection order petitioners; assisting in child welfare services cases referred to the Family Court; juveniles temporarily detained; and engagement of family and community in juvenile
