About the role
The position of Social Worker II with the Hawai`i State Judiciary offers opportunities to contribute to public welfare and safety through various court programs. The role involves a variety of social work tasks ranging from supervising juvenile and adult law violators to conducting child custody/visitation evaluations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise juvenile and adult law violators
- Conduct child custody/visitation evaluations
- Aid protection order petitioners
- Assist in child welfare services cases
- Engage family and community in juvenile cases
- Work with clients facing issues such as substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, child abuse and neglect, trauma, disputed child custody/visitation, victim restitution, and others
Requirements
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in social work, social welfare, criminal justice, human services, counseling, psychology, sociology, or a related field. Twelve (12) semester credit hours in social work, social welfare, criminal justice, human services, counseling, psychology, sociology, or other related social sciences are required.
- Specialized Experience: One-half (1/2) year of progressively responsible professional social work experience involving utilizing a variety of social work skills and exercising professional judgment in assisting individuals and their families with problem identification, evaluation, resource consideration, and alternative course planning.
