About the Role

The Social Worker facilitates administrative processes, ensures compliance with county, state, and federal requirements, and provides information on services available to eligible students and families. This role serves as a key contributor within the educational team, connecting families to resources and supporting students' educational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses student and family needs (e.g., financial, medical, parenting skills) to develop and implement individualized service plans supporting educational objectives.
  • Collaborates with outside service agencies and school sites (e.g., mental health, probation, medical) to provide referrals for families and students.
  • Coordinates workshops for parents and students (e.g., parenting skills, community resources, district programs, social skill development) to assist parents in maintaining a positive home environment and supporting students' educational programs.
  • Mediates conflicts between parents, teachers, and students (e.g., parent/teacher, parent/student) to resolve issues that could impede student success.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g., training, IEPs, team management) to convey and gather information required for job functions.
  • Responds to inquiries from students, parents, staff, and community agencies to provide information on district support services and educational programs.
  • Intervenes in situations that could negatively impact a student's education plan to address needs and maximize the learning environment.
  • Works under limited supervision using standardized practices, leads or coordinates others, and operates within a defined budget.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and ratios.
  • Ability to review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and speak persuasively to implement desired actions.
  • Ability to analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to schedule activities, meetings, or events; gather, collate, and classify data; and use basic job-related equipment.
  • Flexibility to work independently with others in varied circumstances, handle diverse data types, and operate job-related equipment.
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of individuals and groups.
  • Problem-solving skills to analyze issues and create action plans, including independent interpretation of guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a job-related area with an emphasis in a relevant field.
  • Job-related experience within a specialized field is required.

Work Environment

The role involves physical demands such as some lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
