Social Worker - Crime Victims Services

This role provides services to victims/survivors of sexual, physical and domestic violence, stalking, other crimes, and secondary victims. The position focuses on trauma-informed therapeutic interventions for individuals and groups who have survived traumatic events, with a specific focus on partnering with the Troy City School district to provide on-site direct services in addition to community-based support.
Responsibilities
- Provide supportive services including crisis intervention, counseling/therapy, advocacy, compensation assistance, criminal justice and civil legal assistance, and support groups to victims/survivors of crime in collaboration with local schools
- Travel to offer services to students within local schools
- Assist with staffing the program's 24-hour hotline (minimum of 4, 12-hour shifts per month)
- Collaborate with Law Enforcement agencies, as needed
- Perform outreach and build relationships with school staff
- Collaborate with the New York State Office of Victim Services staff, as necessary
- Respond to crisis situations through the 24-Hour Hotline, including accompaniments to the ED and acting as a supportive advocate in legal matters and in securing needed services
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling
- Excellent writing skills, public speaking, and proficiency
- Reliable transportation to meet with clients at school locations, attend required meetings, and provide education/outreach programs
- New York State Certified Sexual Assault Counselor (or willingness to apply for certification with appropriate training provided by the department)
Qualifications
- Experience working with children and adolescents (preferred)
- Extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system and Family Court process (preferred)
Pay
$30.00 - $43.08 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under FLSA will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may vary within the stated range based on location.
