About the Role
The Hospice Social Worker provides a wide variety of services to patients, caregivers, and families in accordance with the individualized plan of care. The Social Worker actively participates in coordination of all aspects of the patient’s care following current professional standards and practice. Their expertise lies in identifying and addressing the emotional and biopsychosocial needs in advanced illness at end of life.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Social Worker will perform supervisory duties only when recommended and educated to do so by organizational leadership. Eligible staff may provide clinical supervision when mutually agreed upon.
Requirements
- Minimum Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a Social Work accredited school.
- At least 2 years of Master's level Social Work experience in an interdisciplinary or health care setting.
- Appropriate licensure from the governing body for practice in the District of Columbia, State of Maryland, and/or the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Physical and Work Environment Demands
- Regularly required to sit, talk, or hear.
- Often required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, taste or smell, and push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Effectively manage work-related stress and maintain consistent customer service focus.
- Work environment varies; travel to patient homes or facilities may expose staff to temperature fluctuations, unclean living environments, increased volume, and other unforeseen challenges.
- Access to regional business office space with computers, printers, copy/fax machines, and telephones.
- Expected noise level in the office work environment is usually light to moderate.
Pay
Pay Range: $62,249.35 - $92,651.93
