About the role
The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental services supports individuals by promoting recovery, self-determination, and wellness in all aspects of life. DBHDS operates 12 facilities, including Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute, a 72-bed Joint Commission accredited State Mental Health Facility, located in Danville, VA. This position will provide social work interventions for inpatient psychiatric patients, including psychosocial assessments, provision of psychosocial services and discharge planning to ensure that appropriate community supports for stable community living and recovery are available and accessible.

Requirements
- MSW from an accredited graduate school of social work
- Case work/group work experience
- If licensed, must maintain LCSW license and remain in good standing throughout employment
Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of social work interventions, particularly casework and group work, is essential. Advanced knowledge of mental illnesses, substance abuse/addiction and skills related to psychosocial rehabilitation/recovery models of intervention. Knowledgeable of community systems of care and services and the skills to access them. Ability to serve as a member of interdisciplinary teams and/or committees to accomplish objectives. Effective communication skills with ability to interact with patients, family members, and community-based organizations as well as with coworkers.

Pay
Hiring Range: $70,701 - $97,567, Pay Band: 5
