About the role

The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Social Worker 3 position in the Carson City Child Welfare office. The position works independently to provide child welfare services to children and families, including managing safety threats, delivering family-centered case management, ensuring children's medical, mental health, and educational needs are met, and developing and reviewing case plans.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and reassess client levels of functioning through interviews, assessments, and review of reports.
  • Develop and implement case plans addressing emotional, social, financial, and health needs.
  • Locate and coordinate services from various agencies and providers.
  • Conduct home visits, monitor services, and track client progress.
  • Document case activities and maintain written case histories.
  • Provide crisis intervention and report instances of neglect or abuse to authorities.
  • Organize multidisciplinary team meetings to assist in strategic assessment and planning.
  • May provide technical assistance and training to other Social Workers.

Requirements

A current Nevada Social Work license is required for employment. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. and are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.

Qualifications

  • Licensure or provisional licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker, or Associate in Social Work.
  • One year of professional experience providing case management in child protective services, foster care services, and/or adoption services in a social work setting.

Skills

  • Knowledge of federal regulations and State laws applicable to child or vulnerable adult welfare.
  • Understanding of family dynamics, caregiver behaviors, and indicators of abuse and neglect.
  • Ability to conduct safety and risk assessments and take decisive action.
  • Proficiency in crisis intervention techniques and legal procedures.
