Social Studies Teacher – Middle School

MISTAFF is a collaborative effort of the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators, Michigan Association of Superintendents & Administrators, Michigan Association of School Boards, Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals, Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association, and Michigan School Public Relations Association.

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced educational leader to serve as the Principal of our high school. The successful candidate will provide visionary leadership, foster a positive school culture, and ensure high academic standards for all students.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the school’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with district goals.
• Supervise and evaluate staff, fostering professional growth and high performance.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for students and staff.
• Oversee curriculum development, instructional practices, and assessment to improve student achievement.
• Manage school operations, including budgeting, scheduling, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Engage with parents, community members, and stakeholders to build strong partnerships.
• Address student discipline and behavioral issues in accordance with school and district policies.
• Ensure the school meets all accreditation and accountability requirements.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field (required).
• Valid Michigan Administrator Certificate with a School Administrator endorsement (required).
• Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (e.g., assistant principal, department chair, or curriculum coordinator).
• Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
• Experience with budget management, staff evaluation, and school improvement planning.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
