Social Studies Teacher

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree in education or a related field from an accredited institution
• Valid Texas teaching certification required in the appropriate content or grade level area

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Strong knowledge of instructional best practices, curriculum standards, and classroom management strategies
• Ability to work effectively with diverse students, families, staff, and community partners
• Strong instructional, communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
• Bilingual skills preferred

Major Responsibilities And Duties

• I. Instructional Planning
• Develop lesson plans aligned with state standards and district curriculum
• Use assessment data to inform instruction
• Design lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners
• II. Instruction
• Deliver engaging instruction that promotes critical thinking and student participation
• Use a variety of instructional strategies to support student learning
• Provide opportunities for student discussion, writing, and problem-solving
• III. Assessment
• Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments
• Provide timely feedback to students
• Adjust instruction based on student performance data
• IV. Classroom Environment
• Establish a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment
• Implement classroom management strategies that support learning
• V. Professional Responsibilities
• Collaborate with colleagues in professional learning communities
• Participate in professional development and school initiatives
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians
• VI. Working Conditions
• Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions
• Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting; frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
• Environmental Factors: Works in an office setting; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours
• Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position
