Social Services Worker 2

Van Wert County Department of Job and Family Services is seeking a driven and energetic Social Services Worker 2 to work one-on-one with families to promote child safety in a fast-paced environment.

Pay

Starting rate of pay is $18.50 per hour. If previous experience working in the child protective service field, rate of pay will be commensurate with experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time or part-time position. Core agency hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Periodic on-call required to handle emergencies after hours.

Responsibilities

• Manage a complex caseload, spending a significant amount of time in the field conducting interviews and gathering information.
• Perform routine home visits.
• Cooperate with law enforcement officials, attorneys, and prosecutors.
• Offer testimony at court hearings/trials periodically.
• Serve as on-call worker assigned to handle emergencies after hours.

Requirements

• Applicants must have one of the following:
  • A bachelor’s degree in human services-related studies, or
  • A minimum of an associate’s degree in a human services-related studies field and must be working towards completion of a bachelor’s degree, or
  • A bachelor’s degree in any field and at least two years of employment in a human services occupation.
• Valid driver’s license.
