Social Service Assistant - Part Time

About the role

The Social Services Assistant position at Kearny Mesa Convalescent, a Generations Healthcare facility, aims to support the emotional and social needs of residents through planned, developed, organized, implemented, evaluated, and directed social service programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Social Service Director/Consultant in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing social service programs.
• Meet with administration, medical, and nursing staff to plan social services as directed.
• Aid in the development, administration, and coordination of department policies and procedures.
• Review and recommend changes to department policies and procedures, at least annually.
• Support the identification of medically related social and emotional needs of residents.
• Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the needs of residents and families.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Capable of making independent decisions when necessary.
• Knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of residents.
• Supportive team member, contributing to and exemplifying teamwork.
• Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders including residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
• Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle residents.
