About the role

The Social Science Research Analyst (Journeyman) supports applied research initiatives related to personnel security, behavioral analysis, and financial risk indicators within a federal environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct applied social science research related to personnel security and financial risk indicators.
  • Support qualitative and quantitative research efforts, including stakeholder interviews, literature reviews, and data collection activities.
  • Utilize SPSS and/or other statistical analysis software to analyze datasets and interpret research findings.
  • Draft and contribute to technical reports, APA-style research documents, briefing materials, and meeting summaries.
  • Assist in the development and execution of systematic research methodologies and analytical frameworks.
  • Collaborate and assist Senior economists to evaluate and interpret statistical findings.
  • Synthesize input from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), adjudicators, and policy stakeholders into actionable research insights and recommendations.
  • Travel locally within the DMV region as needed to support meetings, research activities, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Provide analytical and research support for program evaluations, policy analysis, and decision-making initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant social science field (experience may substitute for education)
  • 2–3 years of professional experience in social science or behavioral research
  • Prior experience in a DoD or Federal Government environment strongly preferred, including familiarity with personnel security processes
  • Experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative research using tools such as SPSS
  • Strong writing skills with experience drafting reports, summaries, or APA-style documentation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
