Join the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services as a Social Science Research Analyst designing studies and analyzing data that shape program policy and improve services. At CMS, you'll conduct research, evaluate program outcomes, and deliver evidence-based recommendations that improve care for the vulnerable populations served by Medicaid and CHIP.

About the role

We're looking for a Social Science Research Analyst to develop and use surveys, market research, and statistical methodologies to conduct studies of HHS programs. Locations: Denver, CO | Atlanta, GA | Boston, MA | Woodlawn, MD | Kansas City, MO | Dallas, TX | Seattle, WA (Telework eligible).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct program and policy analyses to understand the needs and preferences of HHS programs and the populations they serve
  • Utilize market research and statistical techniques to improve services and analyze the quality and performance of HHS programs
  • Direct and coordinate the planning, design, development, and implementation of major healthcare research projects related to Medicaid and CHIP
  • Design and oversee analytic strategies to support implementation and ongoing monitoring of new requirements
  • Evaluate program outcomes, assess state compliance, and identify policy implications for oversight and technical assistance

Requirements

  • Experience applying qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques to interpret healthcare data for policy development, program monitoring, or evaluation
  • Background designing and implementing healthcare research projects or data studies related to Medicaid, CHIP, or similar programs
  • Experience developing and presenting technical documents to explain study data or make recommendations to stakeholders
  • Experience advising on data collection, quality, and reporting, including providing technical assistance on Medicaid and CHIP data

Qualifications

Degree in behavioral or social science or related discipline (or a qualifying combination of education and experience).

Pay

Salary: $107,103 - $156,755/year (varies by location).
