About the role
The USTA (United States Tennis Association) is the national governing body for the sport of tennis and the leader in promoting and developing the sport's growth in the United States. This role is ideal for a student or early-career professional interested in sports marketing, storytelling, events, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Support USTA NorCal events, community activations, programs, and promotional opportunities
- Take photos and videos at events for social media, newsletters, websites, and promotional materials
- Help plan social media content, write captions, schedule posts, and support posting
- Research community events, school events, festivals, park programs, sports activations, and partner opportunities
- Help contact event organizers about possible participation, tabling, activations, or partnerships
- Aid in keeping event outreach and activation details organized, including contacts, deadlines, status updates, and follow-up notes
- Prepare event materials such as signage, giveaways, checklists, and promotional items
- Support post-event recaps by organizing photos/videos, gathering highlights, and summarizing key takeaways
Requirements
This is a hybrid internship with a flexible schedule based on organizational needs. Most work will take place during our normal operating hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Interns should expect a combination of remote work, in-person office work in Alameda, CA, and off-site event support. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be requested for special events, programs, or community activations.
Skills
- Experience creating social media content, reels, short-form videos, captions, or event recaps
- Familiarity with social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, or YouTube
- Organized, dependable, and good with following up
- Able to manage multiple tasks, help reach deadlines, and manage event details with guidance from the team
- Comfortable taking photos and videos using a phone or camera
- Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to jump in where needed
- Must have access to reliable transportation
- Consistent availability from July 27 - Nov 9th
- Must complete Safe Play certification course before start date
- Interest in sports marketing, youth development, parks and recreation, or community outreach
