Social Media Content Designer
About the role
The Social Media Content Designer will see social media as their canvas, translating complex ideas, business priorities, and brand stories into static and motion content built specifically for the social ecosystem. This role requires a deep understanding of social channel algorithms and audience behavior to create assets that define Generac’s unmistakable social presence.
You’ll own creative direction alongside the social team’s editorial direction, working with both B2C and B2B audiences to produce content that earns attention—whether through static graphics, short-form video, or platform-native motion pieces. While planning content up to two months in advance, you’ll also pivot quickly to capitalize on trends or timely messages.
Responsibilities
- Create and edit social media assets across formats, including static graphics, motion, short-form video, and other platform-native creative executions.
- Own creative direction for social media within Generac’s brand style while mentoring team members on effective social design.
- Transform complex topics and messages into simple, compelling visual "sound bites" that audiences can quickly understand and engage with.
- Develop creative concepts designed for social behavior, not adapted from traditional marketing materials.
- Define and evolve the social media visual tone and direction, ensuring a recognizable look and feel.
- Partner closely with social, marketing, and business teams to turn ideas into high-quality creative quickly.
- Build repeatable workflows to test, learn, and create content efficiently.
- Organize and manage a high volume of creative projects while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Use AI-enabled tools to speed up editing, prototype concepts, streamline repetitive tasks, and improve efficiency without compromising creative quality.
- Identify new ways to help a small team create more impactful content.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4-6 years’ experience designing content specifically for social media, with a portfolio highlighting previous brand work.
- Advanced knowledge of social media platforms, audience behaviors, content formats, and algorithm-driven best practices (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and emerging channels).
- Proficiency with social-first creative tools, including Canva, CapCut, Instagram Edits, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong visual storytelling skills to translate complex business topics into simple, engaging, and memorable content.
- Experience creating platform-native static, motion, and short-form video content designed for social media engagement.
- Ability to identify trends and adapt them for brand use while maintaining consistency.
- Knowledge of design principles, including layout, typography, visual hierarchy, animation, and motion design for digital environments.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to accelerate content creation, concept development, editing, and production.
- Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple projects, competing priorities, and tight deadlines.
- Ability to incorporate detailed feedback efficiently and deliver high-quality work through multiple revisions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of creative testing methodologies and using performance insights to inform content development.
- Experience with photography, video capture, and on-location content production.
- Experience creating motion graphics, animation, or advanced video executions for social media.
