About the role

The Department of Education at Santa Clara University (SCU), a Jesuit Catholic institution, seeks to hire a Lecturer to help grow and lead our new MA in Social Impact Leadership (SILM) program, which will launch in the fall of 2026. This new MA builds on our existing Social Impact Leadership concentration in our EdD in Social Justice Leadership, and is designed to prepare and support the leadership development of early to mid-career professionals in a wide range of social impact organizations (including, but not limited to, non-profit organizations, philanthropy, entrepreneurs with a social mission, ESG professionals in corporate sectors).

Responsibilities

  • Teach two of the courses listed below
  • Advise students
  • Provide leadership and guidance on the growth of the program
  • Collaborate with the admissions team to support program enrollment
  • Work with the Dean, Associate Dean, and the Director of Educational Leadership, as well as the leadership in the Miller Center for Global Impact and the Leavey School of Business and the program's Advisory Group of regional social impact leaders to run the program
  • Cultivate relationships with area organizations and faculty colleagues to develop and/or refine course syllabi and foster site partners for the capstone / internship projects
  • Academic advising of students
  • Serve as the Social Impact program coordinator, which entails cultivating relationships with Advisory Group members, meeting regularly with Leavey & Miller Center faculty to ensure program alignment, collaborating with Admissions and Student Services to ensure a smooth admissions process and sufficient student support, advising students, and documenting, creating, and revising program documentation
  • Design and facilitate an internship model and work to build internship sites and relationships, which includes refining the partner recruitment process, recruiting placement sites, and managing MOU agreements

Qualifications

  • Earned Master’s degree or higher in a related field from an accredited university
  • Extensive successful leadership experience in one or more social impact organizations
  • Experience working and leading in diverse community environments with a commitment to social justice
  • Expertise to teach at least two of the following 10-week courses:
    • SILM 204 Design Thinking for Social Impact Leaders (Winter 27)
    • SILM 201 Engaging and Understanding Community to Define Social Impact Problems and Strategy (Fall 26)
    • SILM 209 Social Impact Internship I, II (Summer 27)
    • SILM 207 Human Resource Development (Summer 27)

Desired Qualifications

  • A doctoral level degree in a field related to Social Impact Leadership
  • Teaching experience in higher education, teaching experience with graduate students preferred
  • Experience and contacts with social impact organizations in the greater Silicon Valley region to support the cultivation of internship sites for students
