Social Designer

Last year alone, we kept 10 million pounds of donated goods from landfills. Through reselling donated items, we provide job readiness training and employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities and barriers to employment.
The Social Designer supports Goodwill’s mission by planning, curating, implementing, and continuously improving an established social media strategy across multiple channels. This role creates engaging visual assets and storytelling related to Goodwill’s mission, events, programs, retail initiatives, sustainability efforts, and community impact.
Responsibilities
- Proofread social media content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Create and edit visual assets (photos, videos, graphics) using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and CapCut.
- Curate relevant and engaging content featuring Goodwill retail merchandise, ambassadors, events, sustainability initiatives, and mission programs.
- Plan, implement, and support weekly and monthly social media content calendars through Hootsuite and other social media scheduling and analytics tools.
- Use basic WordPress skills to add information to our website, including blog posts, pop-ups, and new information.
- Monitor channel performance and provide quarterly reports including data insights, trends, and recommendations for improvement.
- Research potential influencers, make partnership recommendations, establish relationships, and collaborate following approved procedures and Memorandum of Understanding (collaborates with 12+ influencers per year).
- Provide graphic design support beyond social media when needed to elevate organizational initiatives.
- Write monthly job posts and email campaigns using our email marketing program (Campaign Monitor).
- Support community events when needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts or equivalent combination of training and/or experience preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in graphic arts, print production, and website maintenance.
- Knowledge of digital and offset print manufacturing, including pre-press and finishing processes (e.g., file prep, press quality/color checks, scoring/folding).
- High level of interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Email Marketing.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) and PowerPoint.
- Proficient in WordPress content editing and maintenance.
- Experience managing Google AdWords Accounts.
- Valid CA driver’s license, proof of insurance, and driving record acceptable by Goodwill’s insurance company.
Skills
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape, including major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, TikTok, YouTube).
- Experience with direct mail (electronic and physical), e.g., Constant Contact, Campaign Monitor.
- Strong writing skills for curating captions, blog posts, and emails.
- Ability to read and understand written sales orders/quotes, sample sheets, and proofs.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, with 10% travel required.
