SOCF CORRECTION OFFICER

About the role

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction seeks to hire a Correction Officer to join their team. This role offers rewarding and meaningful work within a supportive work family.

Responsibilities

• Maintain control of the institution to ensure safety and security
• Supervise and direct inmate activity
• Ensure assigned area is clean, safe, and secure
• Monitor and operate security controls, equipment, and computers
• Operate automotive vehicles in perimeter security and transport inmates
• Conduct inmate counts, security rounds, and searches
• Complete required reports and serve on committees
• Prevent escapes or incidents threatening security
• Necessary: Use physical force, unarmed self-defense, firearms, or other force to detain or secure inmates

Requirements

• Highest high school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license for positions in the transportation section, and/or commercial driver’s license for vehicle qualifications
• Successfully passed correction officer assessment within the last 24 months, or currently employed with Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction with previous certification in correction officer position

Benefits

• Starting salary at step 1: $24.88
• Salary increases to step 2: $25.61 after 6 months employment
• Additional .60 per hour for working 2nd or 3rd shift
