About the role
The Chicago KICS Football Club is seeking a passionate individual to join the coaching roster in the travel team program. The Staff Coach will be in charge of the team the club assigns, coaching and helping out in developing the team and players throughout the travel season. Responsibilities include session planning, weekly and weekend availability, organization and field-set up, as well as representation of club values across the program.
Responsibilities
- Plan weekly sessions for travel team adapted to age group (boys & girls 7U to 19U).
- Align soccer sessions with KICS methodology.
- Ensure that the voice and session standards correlate with the overall brand and mission statement of KICS.
- Create appropriate challenge while keeping sessions, fun, positive, and developmental.
- Work closely with the Head of Coaching Development and Head of Youth Development to create a positive environment that showcases players’ and team’s personalities, experiences and achievements.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, technical and coaching developmental meetings.
- Auxiliary responsibilities include assisting the marketing and communication department through video recording and taking pictures when needed in sessions.
- Create a sense of community with KICS families by engaging and keeping them informed and excited about the club.
- Attend Grassroots sessions and tryouts to identify talent.
- Monitor and report on player performance, including end-of-season player reports.
- Weekly team emails and other communications to the team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- US Soccer Grassroots, including 11v11 In-person.
- D license - or working towards completion.
- Prior experience coaching soccer.
- Bachelor’s Degree Required - or working towards completion.
- Ability to work on weekdays afternoon and weekend mornings.
- Flexible schedule to coach sessions during weekdays and games in the weekend.
- Driving license and clean record.

- Ability to solve problem as soon as they arise.
- Ability to work under pressure and handling alone teams of 15-18 players.
- Willingness to keep learning and improving as a coach.
- Ensure a safe working environment for players on and off the field.
- Ensure equipment is set up in time and ready before practices begin.
- Reliability to attend all scheduled sessions and act professional at all times.
- Strong communication skills.
