SOC 101 adjunct instructor - Fall 2026

About the role

The College of New Jersey's Department of Sociology and Anthropology is seeking dynamic adjunct instructors to teach SOC 101: Introduction to Sociology in Fall 2026.

Responsibilities

• Teach SOC 101: Introduction to Sociology in Fall 2026 (August 22 to December 12, 2026).
• Develop and deliver engaging lectures and facilitate discussions that promote critical thinking and understanding of sociological concepts.
• Evaluate student learning through various assessment methods and provide feedback to enhance student performance.
• Incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion topics into the course material to ensure a comprehensive understanding of sociological principles.

Requirements

• A M.A. degree in Sociology and prior college-level teaching experience with introductory courses in Sociology OR a specialization in Sociology and experience teaching college students.
• Ph.D. or ABD preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to teach in an in-person setting at TCNJ's campus in Ewing, NJ.
• Experience working with diverse student populations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills

• Effective classroom management and facilitation skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of different learners.
• Knowledge of current sociological theories and research.
